BIG NEWS! 2006 Grant Recipient
On July 17th, 2006 GRANTS WISHES was named a 2006 STARBUCKS California Giving Grant recipient. GRANTS WISHES was selected out of over 500 applicants from LA and Orange County and was awarded a $50,000.00 grant. STARBUCKS COFFEE has been a supporter of GRANTS WISHES since 2005, partnering together on many occasions to aid in fundraising events and raising community awareness. http://www.starbuckscalgiving.com
GRANTS WISHES First Golf Tournament & Dinner A Great Success!
On May 5th, 2006 we held our first Golf Tournament at Green River in Corona. We had a great turnout! We had a very successful silent auction and opportunity drawing. Donated items contributed significantly to the success and fun of the tournament. Thank you to all our guests, sponsors, supporters, volunteers and STARBUCKS volunteers for their contribution to our successful event. We couldn’t have done it without each and everyone of you! Canyon Hills Women’s Club Donated $5700.00!
A special thank you to the members and guests of Canyon Hills Women’s Club of Anaheim Hills, for the April 30th event luncheon and auction held at the Summit House Restaurant in Fullerton. The luncheon was wonderful and we had a great time. Proceeds from the event of $5700.00 were given to GRANTS WISHES and 100% will be used to fund additional wishes
STARBUCKS COFFEE Friends & Family Event
On August 10th at the new STARBUCKS COFFEE in Tustin on El Camino Real and Newport Blvd., GRANTS WISHES once again participated in the family and friends Grand Opening Event. STARBUCKS employees, friends and families were asked to bring toys, crayons, markers or games that will be donated to CHOC. GRANTS WISHES sold wristbands, window decals and shared some of our wish stories. STARBUCKS COFFEE provided free coffee tasting and wonderful pastry samples. We all enjoyed a great evening. We appreciate Starbuck’s Coffee Co. and employees for all their support. Thank you!
Join our CHOC Walk Team 2006
We are looking forward to our next CHOC walk, on October 8, 2006. This is a Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) event. If you would like to join our team, GRANTS WISHES, you can register now at www.chocwalk.org or contact us. We have had almost 300 walkers over the past 3 years and raised over $35,000.00 for CHOC. Happy Meal Toys & Games Collections for Treasure Boxes at CHOC for Kids Ages 0-22
On August 10th we made a large delivery over-filling 12 treasures chests in the treatment rooms at CHOC. We also delivered a box of larger toys and a box full of crayons and markers for the oncology clinic. In April, Trent’s delivery of toys to CHOC filled 8 treasure chests and gave the Occupational Therapy department a new supply of toys to work with children while they are receiving therapy. Trent’s toy collection was recognized in an article about National Volunteer Week in the April 27th edition of the Anaheim Hills News section of the Register. Grant’s brother, Trent, has been collecting wrapped Happy Meal Toys for the treasure boxes at CHOC since 2003. He has also collected coloring books and crayons since 1996 for CHOC on the anniversary of his Heart Transplant every December. There are now collection boxes at McPherson Magnet School and KD’s Donuts, Anaheim Hills Elementary and Hephatha Lutheran Preschool. Many wonderful people have helped spread the word. The donations have increased due to collections by local girl scout troops, businesses, friends and family. A special thank you to Michelle Adair for helping get the word out and helping with the delivery. We’d love to have your help too. We need more teenage and infant items.
